The Pueblo Grande Museum and Archaeological Park is located in Phoenix, Arizona at 4619 E. Washington Street. This museum and archaeological park is dedicated to preserving and interpreting the cultural heritage of the Hohokam people who inhabited the region from about 300 B.C. to 1450 A.D.
The Pueblo Grande Museum contains both archaeological and cultural artifacts from the Hohokam people. These artifacts range from pottery, tools and jewelry to baskets, textiles and weapons. There are also several exhibits about the culture and history of the Hohokam people. The museum also has educational programming and special events throughout the year.
The Pueblo Grande Archaeological Park consists of an ancient Hohokam village, a platform mound, and a ballcourt. The village is a reconstructed version of a traditional Hohokam village, and the platform mound is an ancient Hohokam ceremonial and burial site. The ballcourt is a traditional Hohokam game court where ancient Hohokam people would play a game similar to modern-day basketball.
The museum and archaeological park provide visitors with a unique opportunity to learn about the ancient Hohokam people and their culture. Visitors can explore the archaeological site and museum, learn about Hohokam history and culture, and take part in educational programming and special events.
