The Bishop Hill Old Settlers Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the history and culture of Bishop Hill, Illinois. Located in Henry County, Illinois, the village of Bishop Hill was established in 1846 by a Swedish religious sect known as the Janssonists. Led by their leader Erik Jansson, the group fled religious persecution and immigrated to the United States, settling in the small village, which became known as Bishop Hill.

The Bishop Hill Old Settlers Association was established in 1915 for the purpose of preserving the legacy of this unique Swedish-American community. The association works to preserve the village’s cultural heritage and promote its history through various activities and events. The association also works to protect the village’s historic buildings, including the Colony Church and the Steeple Building, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Bishop Hill Old Settlers Association hosts a variety of events throughout the year that are open to the public, including the annual Bishop Hill Old Settlers Picnic and the Bishop Hill Chautauqua. Other activities include historic walking tours, a Swedish Smorgasbord, a craft fair, and an ice cream social. The association also publishes a quarterly newsletter and operates a museum and gift shop filled with historical artifacts and souvenirs. The museum houses an extensive collection of manuscripts, photographs, and other Swedish-American artifacts.
