Founded in 1881, Fortnightly of Chicago is one of the oldest women's clubs in the United States. Located in the heart of downtown Chicago, Illinois, the club is dedicated to providing a sense of community and promoting the welfare of women in the city. The club offers a range of activities for its members, including lectures and seminars, cultural outings, and social events.
The club is open to any woman over the age of eighteen, and membership is divided into three levels. The first level is Associate, which requires two sponsors and an annual fee. The second level is Member, which requires three sponsors and an annual fee. The third level is Life Member, which requires six sponsors and a one-time fee.
In addition to its activities and programs, the club also provides scholarship opportunities, awards, and volunteer opportunities. The club also awards grants to local charities and community organizations in order to further its mission of promoting the welfare of women.
