The Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation, based in Scottsdale, Arizona, is a non-profit organization founded in 1940. Its mission is to preserve the legacy of the renowned American architect Frank Lloyd Wright, who died in 1959. The organization works to preserve his existing structures and promote his architectural principles, to inspire the future of architecture, and to engage people in the appreciation of his work.
The Foundation manages Taliesin West, a National Historic Landmark in Scottsdale, Arizona, which was Wright's winter home, studio, and architectural campus from 1937 until his death in 1959. Taliesin West is open to the public for tours and educational programs, and is also used for special events and conferences.
In addition, the Foundation operates the Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture, which is a graduate-level program offering a Master of Architecture degree. Students are trained in Wright’s architectural principles and in the preservation and interpretation of his work. The school also offers a variety of short-term courses and workshops related to Wright's work.
The Foundation also works to promote the preservation of other Wright structures, including the Unity Temple in Oak Park, Illinois, and Fallingwater in Mill Run, Pennsylvania. It also provides grants to support research and educational initiatives related to Wright's work. Finally, the Foundation produces publications, online resources, and other materials to further the appreciation of Wright's life and work.
