The Hyde Park Historical Society (HPHS) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in one of the most historic neighborhoods of Chicago, Illinois. Founded in 1941, the Society’s mission is to preserve and promote the rich history of Hyde Park and its surrounding communities.

HPHS is dedicated to preserving and promoting the history of the neighborhood through education, research, and advocacy. The Society has a variety of unique resources and archives, including the Hyde Park Oral History Project, the Hyde Park Historical Resources Database, and the Hyde Park History Collection. The Society also hosts a variety of public programs, such as lectures, symposia, and walking and bus tours.

HPHS also serves as an advocate for the preservation of historic buildings and sites in the area. In addition, the Society works with local schools, museums, and other institutions to promote a greater understanding of the history of the neighborhood.

The Society is committed to making history accessible to all members of the community, and strives to inform and engage the public through its publications, exhibits, and educational programs. HPHS also works to protect and preserve the architectural and cultural heritage of the neighborhood.

HPHS is dedicated to helping the community understand, appreciate, and protect the history and culture of the Hyde Park neighborhood. Through its commitment to education, research, and advocacy, the Society is helping to ensure that the history of the area is preserved for generations to come.
