CHICAGO, IL

The Shedd Aquarium in Chicago, Illinois is one of the world’s largest indoor aquariums. It houses over 32,000 aquatic animals representing 1,500 species from around the world. Located on the shores of Lake Michigan, it is part of the Museum Campus Chicago, which also includes the Adler Planetarium and the Field Museum of Natural History.

The Shedd Aquarium was opened in 1930 and was the first inland aquarium with a permanent saltwater fish collection. Since then, it has continued to expand and now has five permanent exhibits: Wild Reef, Caribbean Reef, Amazon Rising, Waters of the World and the Abbott Oceanarium. These exhibits feature a variety of habitats and species, including beluga whales, sea lions, penguins, sharks, stingrays, jellyfish, eels, sea turtles and many more.

The aquarium also offers educational programs, behind-the-scenes tours, and a variety of interactive exhibits and activities for visitors of all ages. There is also a café and a gift shop on-site.

The Shedd Aquarium is a popular tourist destination and a great place to learn about aquatic life and conservation. It is open year-round and admission is free on select days.
