The Chicago Zoological Society (CZS) is a nonprofit organization that operates the Brookfield Zoo in Brookfield, Illinois. The zoo is located on 216 acres of land and is home to over 450 species of animals, representing nearly 4,000 individual animals. The zoo is divided into four distinct areas – The Living Coast, The Hamill Family Play Zoo, The Children’s Zoo, and the Great Bear Wilderness.

The Living Coast is home to aquatic and semi-aquatic species including seals, sea lions, otters, and stingrays. The Hamill Family Play Zoo features interactive exhibits with goats, sheep, and other small animals. The Children’s Zoo is designed to educate youngsters about animal life and conservation. The Great Bear Wilderness is where visitors can observe bears, cougars, bison, and other large animals.

CZS is committed to animal conservation, scientific research, and environmental education. The zoo also hosts a number of events throughout the year including the popular Summer Nights event and the Boo at the Zoo Halloween celebration. Visitors can also take part in a variety of educational programs and classes, as well as participate in behind-the-scenes tours and animal encounters.
