Chapin Hall Center for Children is an independent research center at the University of Chicago that focuses on understanding and improving the well-being of children and youth, families, and their communities. Founded in 1985, Chapin Hall works with government and philanthropic partners to develop and test innovative strategies for improving the safety and well-being of children and families. Chapin Hall offers research and evaluation, policy analysis, program design, and implementation support to address a wide range of social issues that affect children and families.

Chapin Hall works to improve the systems and programs that serve children and families and to develop and test evidence-based interventions that improve outcomes for children and families. The center works with a diverse range of partners to identify and address pressing social issues. The center’s areas of focus include children’s mental health, early care and education, family support, foster care and adoption, juvenile justice, and public education.
