RIVERBEND TENTH ANNNIVERSARY 9-11 MEMORIAL SERVICE

The Riverbend Tenth Anniversary 9-11 Memorial Service was held on September 11, 2011 in Alton, Illinois. The memorial was held to honor those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. The event began with a moment of silence, followed by the presentation of colors by local Boy Scouts, a flag folding ceremony by the Civil Air Patrol, and the playing of Taps by a lone bugler.

The keynote speaker was Congressman Jerry Costello who spoke about the courage and heroism of the first responders during the attacks. He also spoke about the importance of remembering those who lost their lives that day. The event also included a presentation of a memorial wreath, a 21-gun salute, and a balloon release.

The service was attended by hundreds of people including local firefighters, police, and emergency personnel as well as many members of the community. The memorial was an important event to help the community remember the tragic events of September 11, 2001. It was a time for the community to come together, honor those who lost their lives, and remember the importance of never forgetting.
