The Friends of the Illinois Supreme Court Historic Preservation (FISCHP) is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving, protecting, and promoting the history and legacy of the Illinois Supreme Court. Founded in 2001, FISCHP works to preserve and interpret the historic Supreme Court Chambers, the oldest continuously used court chambers in the United States, as well as its related artifacts, documents, and archives. FISCHP seeks to increase public awareness and appreciation of the Supreme Court's unique role in the state's history, while also providing educational programs and exhibits to promote a greater understanding of the court system and the rule of law.
FISCHP is dedicated to keeping the court's history alive and relevant in today's world. To achieve this goal, FISCHP sponsors a variety of public programs and events, such as lectures, educational programs, and tours of the Supreme Court Chambers, to increase public awareness of the court's history. FISCHP also strives to increase public access to the court's archives and artifacts through its website, which provides a searchable database of court documents and artifacts.
FISCHP works in partnership with several other organizations, such as the Illinois State Historical Society, to promote the preservation of the Supreme Court Chambers and its related artifacts. In addition to its preservation efforts, FISCHP also works to raise funds to support the restoration and maintenance of the Supreme Court Chambers.
FISCHP is an active and vibrant organization that is committed to preserving and promoting the history and legacy of the Illinois Supreme Court. Through its efforts, FISCHP strives to ensure that the court's history remains alive and relevant in today's world.
