The Landmarks Preservation Council of Illinois (LPCI) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to preserving the architectural and cultural heritage of Illinois. Founded in 1975, LPCI works to protect and promote Illinois’ historic and cultural resources by providing technical assistance and offering educational programs.

LPCI is a membership-based organization with more than 700 members from across the state. The organization is led by a Board of Directors, which includes volunteers from around the state and professionals from the fields of architecture, history, and planning.

LPCI is headquartered in Chicago, but also has regional offices in Springfield, Rockford, and Quincy. Its staff members work closely with local governments and communities to identify, survey, and evaluate historic resources, provide technical assistance, and encourage preservation initiatives. It also lobbies for the passage of legislation that will protect Illinois’ architectural and cultural resources.

The organization also organizes educational programs, such as lectures, workshops, and conferences, to educate the public about the importance of historic preservation. Additionally, LPCI works with the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency to preserve Illinois’s architectural and cultural heritage.

LPCI is committed to preserving the architectural and cultural heritage of Illinois, and its efforts have resulted in the protection of numerous historic sites throughout the state.
