The Shemer Art Center and Museum Association (SACAMA) Inc. is a non-profit organization located in Phoenix, Arizona. Founded in 1966, SACAMA provides a unique venue for Arizona’s visual and performing arts. With more than 4,000 works of art, SACAMA is the largest collection of contemporary and 20th century art in Arizona. The mission of SACAMA is to promote, preserve and encourage the arts in Arizona.
The art center offers educational programs and public events that include art classes, lectures and workshops. There is a permanent collection of art, including works by Arizona artists, as well as several traveling exhibitions. Additionally, the center hosts special events such as the Annual Spring Art Fair, an annual Native American art festival, and a variety of concerts, films and plays.
The Shemer Art Center also offers studio and gallery space for local artists. The gallery features rotating exhibitions, as well as a permanent collection of sculptures, paintings and drawings. The center also houses a retail shop that sells handcrafted jewelry, prints and books.
In addition to its visual arts program, SACAMA also provides performing arts opportunities. The center’s stage hosts a variety of live performances, including concerts, plays, dance performances and more. The Shemer Art Center also offers a variety of classes in dance, music, theater and visual arts.
The Shemer Art Center and Museum Association Inc. is an important part of the Arizona arts community. Through its exhibitions, performances, classes and special events, SACAMA provides a space for Arizona’s artists and art lovers to come together and celebrate the visual and performing arts.
