The Institute of Puerto Rican Art in Chicago (IPRAC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization located in Chicago, IL dedicated to the exploration, preservation, and promotion of Puerto Rican art and culture. Established in 1989, IPRAC has been a leader in connecting the Puerto Rican community to its heritage and history through the visual arts.

IPRAC’s mission is to nurture, promote, and celebrate Puerto Rican art and culture through exhibitions, educational programs, and workshops. The Institute seeks to develop a deeper understanding of Puerto Rican culture and art through its exhibitions, which feature art from both emerging and established artists. IPRAC also provides educational programs and workshops to the general public, and hosts a variety of events that bring people from the Chicagoland area and beyond together to revel in Puerto Rican art and culture.

IPRAC’s main facility is located on the second floor of the historic Paseo Boricua in Chicago’s Humboldt Park neighborhood. The facility includes a gallery space, library, and office space, as well as a gift shop and cafe. IPRAC also runs an outreach program called “Outreach Art” which seeks to engage the community through art. These outreach programs bring art to places such as schools, libraries, and senior centers, and include art projects, performances, and lectures.

IPRAC is committed to preserving and promoting the Puerto Rican culture and heritage through the visual arts, and is proud to be a part of the vibrant Puerto Rican community in Chicago.
