#FlickrFriday #Quest From the 1840s to the 1860s, about 400,000 people followed the Oregon Trail from the Missouri to the Willamette, in a quest for good farmland. This is where the trail goes down a natural notch in the basalt cliffs that line this part of the Boise River.It is steeper than I had imagined it; they had to lower the wagons with ropes. From here they saw a green valley with trees along the river after about a month in the desert. The road in the distance is Highway 21, which blasts an easier way down through the basalt cliffs. Beyond that are the houses of Boise.
