The Mullan Historical Society Inc (MHS) was founded in Mullan, Idaho in 1977. It is a non-profit organization whose mission is to collect, preserve and share the history of Mullan and its surrounding area.

The MHS is located in the former Mullan Post Office building, which was built in 1907. The building was acquired by the MHS in 1978 and renovated to become a museum. The museum features a variety of exhibits, including a permanent display of early photographs, artifacts and documents, as well as changing exhibitions of local history.

The MHS also operates a research library, which contains a collection of books, photographs, newspapers and other materials related to the history of Mullan and its surrounding area.

The MHS hosts a variety of events throughout the year, including lectures, workshops and walking tours. The MHS also organizes two annual festivals: “The Mullan Mining Festival”, which celebrates the area’s mining heritage, and “The Mullan Days of Summer”, which includes a parade, music and dancing.

In addition to its museum, research library and events, the MHS also produces a quarterly newsletter, “The Mullan Historian”, and publishes a variety of books and pamphlets related to local history.

The MHS is actively involved in the preservation and promotion of Mullan’s history and heritage, and is an important part of the local community.
