The Bicentennial Historical Museum in Grangeville, Idaho is a museum dedicated to the preservation and education of Idaho’s history. The museum was established in 1976 to commemorate the nation’s bicentennial. It is housed in the former Grangeville City Hall, a two-story building built in 1909. The museum features permanent and rotating exhibits showcasing the history of Idaho, with particular emphasis on the region’s Native American and European settlers.

The museum’s permanent exhibits include the “History of Grangeville”, which chronicles the city’s establishment and growth, as well as displays featuring the region’s early ranching, logging, and mining activities. Other permanent exhibits focus on the region’s early pioneers, the Chinese miners who came to the area during the Gold Rush, and the area’s Native American tribes.

In addition to its permanent exhibits, the Bicentennial Historical Museum also hosts a variety of special events and educational programs. These include lectures on various aspects of Idaho’s history, workshops on the Native American cultures of the region, and monthly movie screenings. The museum also offers guided tours of the building and its exhibits.

The Bicentennial Historical Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Admission is free.
