The Moanalua Gardens Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and protecting the cultural, historical and natural resources of Moanalua Valley, located in Honolulu, Hawaii. The Foundation is committed to preserving the valley’s beauty and cultural heritage by providing educational opportunities and promoting recreational and cultural activities.

Moanalua Valley is an ancient ahupua’a, a traditional Hawaiian land division that stretches from the mountains to the sea. It is home to a number of archaeological sites, including heiau, or Hawaiian temple sites, and is the ancestral home of the ali’i, or Hawaiian royalty.

The Moanalua Gardens Foundation was founded in 1982 to preserve and protect the valley’s resources, educate the public about its cultural history, and promote recreational and cultural activities. The Foundation strives to protect the valley’s natural resources, including its native plant and animal species, by restoring and maintaining trails, and planting native species. It also works to restore and protect archaeological and historic sites, as well as to promote knowledge of Hawaiian culture and history.

The Moanalua Gardens Foundation also hosts a variety of events, such as the Moanalua Gardens Festival, which celebrates the valley’s cultural and natural resources. It also organizes educational programs and events that bring together students, teachers, and community members to learn about Hawaiian culture, history, and the valley’s resources. The Foundation is also involved in a variety of volunteer and community service projects.
