Located on the western coast of the Big Island of Hawaii, Kiholo Loko ia is a historic fishpond that dates back to the 15th century. Built by the native Hawaiians, this fishpond was used to cultivate fish and other marine life for consumption. Kiholo Loko ia is situated in the Kiholo Bay area, which is also home to the Kiholo State Park Reserve.

The fishpond spans over 4 acres and is surrounded by an embankment made of lava rock. The walls are about 2 to 3 feet high and are designed to keep the fish inside the pond while allowing water to flow in and out during high tide. The fishpond is also connected to the ocean through a channel that allows the fish to swim in and out freely. The pond is filled with a variety of fish, including mullet, milkfish, and tilapia.

Today, Kiholo Loko ia is a popular destination for tourists and locals alike. Visitors can take a hike along the coast to reach the fishpond and enjoy the beautiful views of the ocean. The area is also home to a variety of wildlife, including green sea turtles and humpback whales.
