Revolutionary War: General Casimir Pulaski died fighting the British at the Siege of Savannah This is a monument to Revolutionary War hero Casimir Pulaski at Monterey Square in downtown Savannah, Georgia. General Pulaski was shot by cannon grapeseed fire from the British while attempting to rally fleeing French troops not far from here. Pulaski is considered "the father of American cavalry."

The Tybee Island Veterans Monument Committee was founded in 2004 as a non-profit organization dedicated to honoring the service of veterans in the Tybee Island area. Located in Chatham County, Georgia, the mission of the organization is to recognize and honor veterans in the area and to promote public awareness and education of the contributions made by veterans to their community and country.

The committee works to ensure the recognition of veterans by erecting monuments, memorials, and markers, as well as organizing special events and activities. Currently, the committee has erected two monuments, one dedicated to veterans of World War II and another dedicated to veterans of the Vietnam War. The committee is also in the process of creating a memorial garden to honor all veterans.

The committee is made up of volunteers, including veterans and members from the local community. The volunteers work together to fundraise, plan, and implement projects and events to honor veterans. They also offer educational programs and activities to promote awareness of the contributions of veterans in the area.

The organization works to connect veterans in the area and to build relationships with local businesses and the community.
