The Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia (MOCA GA) is located in Atlanta, Georgia and is the state's only independent non-profit museum of modern and contemporary art. The museum was founded in 1956 and is dedicated to the collection, preservation and interpretation of modern and contemporary art from Georgia and the Southeast. The museum's permanent collection includes more than 4,000 works of art, including paintings, sculptures, photographs and prints. MOCA GA also features traveling exhibitions, lectures, classes, workshops, film screenings and other educational programs.
MOCA GA’s building was designed by architect Richard Meier and is located in the city’s vibrant midtown area. The museum features two floors of gallery space, a theater, a studio, a library, a café and a sculpture garden. Inside the museum, visitors will find a variety of rotating exhibitions of modern and contemporary art, as well as permanent exhibitions of works from the museum’s collection.
In addition to its galleries and exhibitions, MOCA GA offers a variety of educational programs, including classes, lectures, workshops, film screenings and more. The museum is also home to the MOCA GA Artists’ Guild, which provides support and resources to emerging and professional artists in Georgia.
MOCA GA is open seven days a week and admission is free. The museum is a great destination for art lovers of all ages, offering a variety of engaging and educational programs and exhibitions.
