The Douglas County Genealogical Society (DCGS) is an organization dedicated to the preservation of family history and genealogical research. Founded in 1989, DCGS is a non-profit organization based in Douglasville, Georgia and is open to all individuals interested in researching their family history. DCGS provides membership opportunities to both novice and experienced genealogists and family historians.

The society offers numerous services and resources including a library and research center, educational programs, genealogical consultation, workshops, special events and activities, and publications. The DCGS library and research center contains an extensive collection of genealogical materials, including books, periodicals, microfilm, and CD-ROMs. The library also houses the society’s archives, which contains a vast amount of resources related to the history and family histories of Douglas County.

In addition to its library and research center, DCGS offers educational programs, workshops and activities, and publications. The society hosts regular events, such as genealogical workshops, lectures, and seminars, to help educate members and the public on genealogical research techniques. Additionally, the society publishes a quarterly newsletter and the Douglas County Genealogist, a journal highlighting local research and genealogical resources.
