The Eatonton Putnam County Historical Society, Inc. is a nonprofit organization located in Eatonton, Georgia, dedicated to preserving the history of Putnam County and its people. Founded in 1971, the Society is dedicated to the preservation, protection and education of Putnam County’s history and cultural heritage. The organization works to preserve the county’s historic sites, buildings, and artifacts; promote research, education and public awareness of Putnam County’s rich history; and provide leadership in the development and implementation of plans to ensure the preservation of historic sites and other historic resources.

In addition to its preservation and educational efforts, the Society actively works to promote community involvement and public awareness of Putnam County’s history. Educational programs, lectures, field trips, and special events are regularly held throughout the year. The Society also operates a museum, which houses a large collection of artifacts and historical documents, including photographs, letters, clothing, tools, furniture, and other artifacts representing Putnam County’s rich history.

The Society’s library is also a valuable resource for researchers, containing a wide range of resources such as historical books, maps, newspapers, and other materials. The library also offers a variety of digital resources, including online databases and digital archives.

The Society’s website provides additional resources, including a listing of upcoming events and activities, a searchable online database of the Society’s library and museum collections, an online history of Putnam County, educational materials, and more. The Society also operates a gift shop, which offers books, postcards, and other items related to Putnam County’s history.
