Battle of Chickamauga – 21st Michigan Infantry Regiment Monument (Walker County, Georgia) Historic Twenty-First Michigan Infantry Regiment Monument in Glenn Field in the Chickamauga Unit of the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park in Walker County, Georgia. Erected in 1895 by the State of Michigan to honor the regiment in the Battle of Chickamauga. The original bronze eagle and bronze relief panel with rifle are missing.

Union troops suffered heavy losses at the Battle of Chickamauga (September 18-20, 1863) and retreated to safety in Chattanooga where two months later the entrenched Union forces defeated the Confederates during the Battle of Chattanooga (November 23-25, 1863).

This and other century old monuments at the Chickamauga Battlefield are contributing resources to the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park’s 1966 National Register of Historic Places listing (NRHP No. 66000274). The Chickamauga and Chattanooga battlefield sites were designated as the first national battlefield park created by the federal government to memorialize significant military engagements of the Civil War.
