Decatur County Historical Society Inc is a non-profit organization located in Bainbridge, Georgia. Founded in 1976, the society is dedicated to preserving the history and heritage of Decatur County and its surrounding regions.

The society operates a museum that spans over 12,000 square feet and features exhibits that showcase the history of the county, including military artifacts, agricultural equipment, and household items from the 19th and 20th centuries. Visitors can also see a replica of a 1920s kitchen and a restored 1900s schoolhouse.

Bainbridge Georgia ~ Wainman-Gragg-Harris Mansion ~ Historic 1904. This house was built by Thomas C. Wainman, a northerner of great wealth, who was attracted to the area’s virgin pine forests and moved south in 1893. He erected a handsome, four-story structure known as the Wainman Hotel in 1900 and followed the Romanesque Revival-style when he built this transitional period brick residence for himself.

These photos depict a pair of Inca Doves that was seen on multiple occasions by various observers in the same immediate area in spring 2014; they were witnessed with nesting material and relating to a nest in a pear tree, but the nest was subsequently occupied by a Northern Mockingbird (Wayne Shaffner, pers. comm.); breeding was not documented. Spotted trillium Trillium maculatum Wilson Baker told us that Linda Chafin's way of identifying this particular trillium is that you can see between the petals. At Wolf Creek Trout Lily Preserve in Grady County, Georgia.
