Historic Darien Inc. is a non-profit organization in Darien, Georgia. The organization was established in 1982 to promote the preservation and restoration of the city’s historic buildings, sites, and neighborhoods. The organization is managed by a board of directors composed of local citizens who are devoted to the preservation of the area's cultural and historical heritage. Historic Darien Inc. is responsible for the preservation of over 20 sites in the city and has been involved in numerous projects, such as the preservation of the old Darien Court House, the restoration of the 1819-1820 Trinity Church, and the renovation of the 1845-1850 Darien Presbyterian Church. Historic Darien Inc. also sponsors a variety of educational events, such as lectures and walking tours, to share the city’s history with the public. The organization also offers volunteer opportunities for the community to get involved in preserving the city’s history. Historic Darien Inc. works with local, state, and federal government organizations to maintain the historic sites in the city and to ensure that they are properly cared for. The organization’s mission is to promote and preserve the history of the city of Darien, Georgia and to share its stories with the community.
