The Sonoran Desert Foundation (SDF) is a non-profit organization based in Phoenix, Arizona dedicated to conserving and restoring the Sonoran Desert through education, research, and advocacy. Founded in 1992, the SDF works to ensure the natural beauty and ecological integrity of the Sonoran Desert. The Sonoran Desert is the world’s largest desert transition zone, spanning parts of Arizona, California, and Mexico. It is home to an array of unique wildlife, plants, and geologic features.

The SDF works to protect and restore the Sonoran Desert through research and monitoring, habitat restoration, and advocacy. It conducts research projects to advance knowledge of the Sonoran Desert’s ecology, climate, and cultural history. The SDF also partners with local, state, and federal agencies, universities, and other non-profits to restore and protect habitat, restore native vegetation, and create wildlife corridors.

In addition, the SDF works to raise public awareness about the Sonoran Desert through its educational and interpretive programs, workshops, and field trips. The SDF also works to engage and connect the local community to the Sonoran Desert through its volunteer opportunities. Through its work, the SDF strives to ensure the Sonoran Desert remains a vibrant and healthy landscape for generations to come.
