The Uncle Remus Museum in Eatonton, Georgia is a unique museum dedicated to preserving the memory of Uncle Remus, a legendary figure in African American folklore. Uncle Remus, born in Eatonton in 1881, was the inspiration for the character in the popular book, "Uncle Remus, His Songs and His Sayings," by Joel Chandler Harris. The museum was established in 1982 to honor the legacy of Uncle Remus and the African American culture of Putnam County.
