Punta Gorda, Florida, is home to a rich military heritage and aviation history. Located on the Gulf Coast of Florida, Punta Gorda has long been a popular destination for those interested in military history. During World War II, Punta Gorda served as a training hub for the U.S. Army Air Corps, and is now home to the Charlotte County Airport, a former Naval air station.
