The Boca Grande Historical Society is a non-profit organization located in the historic district of Boca Grande, Florida. Founded in 1979, the Society is dedicated to preserving and sharing the unique history of the island community. The Society works to preserve the island’s rich heritage through the collection and display of artifacts, the publication of books and other educational materials, and the presentation of educational programs and other community events.
The Society’s main museum, located in the historic Boca Grande Lighthouse, is home to a variety of exhibits, including a re-created 1940s-era home, an interactive map of the island, and a tribute to the island’s commercial fishing industry. The museum also offers a variety of educational programs and workshops, including lectures, seminars, and hands-on activities.
In addition to the museum, the Society operates a research library and archives, where visitors can access a variety of primary source materials and documents related to Boca Grande’s history.
