The Cochise County Historical Society (CCHS) is a non-profit organization located in Douglas, Arizona. CCHS was founded in 1952 to collect, preserve, and interpret the history of the region. The Society is open to the public, and its mission is to promote the understanding and appreciation of the county’s past.

The Society is dedicated to providing educational programs and events. It hosts a variety of events throughout the year, including an annual Pioneer Days celebration, an old-fashioned Christmas holiday celebration, and a modern-day celebration of the County’s centennial. It also presents educational programs, such as lectures, book discussions, and school tours.

The Society houses a museum, library, and archives. The museum has permanent and changing exhibits, featuring artifacts and stories of the region’s past. The library contains a wide range of books, journals, and photographs related to the history of Cochise County. Additionally, the archives preserve historical records, including photographs, newspapers, and other documents.

The Society also owns and operates a number of historic sites in the county, including a one-room schoolhouse, a blacksmith shop, and a fort. The properties are open to the public for tours and events.

CCHS relies on donations, grants, and memberships to support its activities. It is committed to preserving the region’s past for future generations.
