Fort King Waterway Landing in Silver Springs State Park, Ocala, Florida The old man-made Fort King Waterway feeds into the Silver River. The waterway was formerly open for a jungle cruise only but reopened to paddling in 2013 (for the first time since the 1870's) when Silver River State Park and Silver Springs Nature Theme Park combined to become Silver Springs State Park. Remnants of tourist exhibits remain, most will eventually be removed to return the park to a more natural state.

As one of America’s largest springs, Silver Springs in Florida has crystal clear water, an interesting ecosystem of rivers and channels and a huge variety of plants and wildlife. As Florida's oldest attraction, the world famous Glass Bottom Boat tour which originated in the 1870s showcase the crystal clear springs and underwater life that naturally inhabit Silver Springs and visitors have long been captivated by the springs' natural beauty and vibrant clarity.
