The Brevard Genealogical Society Inc (BGS) in Cocoa, FL was established in 1980 to support and educate the residents of Brevard County in genealogical research. BGS is a non-profit, educational organization that promotes the study of family history and genealogy.
BGS offers a variety of activities, events, and services to help educate members and the community on the importance of genealogical research. Members are provided with access to the BGS library and databases, as well as educational lectures and classes. The library contains a variety of resources such as books, journals, reference materials, and family histories. The databases include an online family tree and a searchable library catalog.
In addition to the library and databases, BGS also provides a variety of services to its members. These services include the ability to access a genealogist, a volunteer committee to assist with research, and research assistance by mail. BGS also offers an online newsletter, genealogy classes and workshops, as well as a genealogy store.
BGS is dedicated to preserving and sharing family histories and genealogy. They are committed to helping the community understand the importance of genealogy and its role in helping to shape the future.
