The Eustis Historical Museum is located in the heart of downtown Eustis, Florida. Established in 1986, the museum is dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of the history of Eustis and the surrounding area through its collections and exhibits. The museum is housed in two buildings: the original 1888 Eustis Schoolhouse and the 1898 Haines House.
The Eustis Schoolhouse was originally built to serve as the first public school in Eustis. Today, the building houses a permanent exhibit of artifacts from Eustis' early days, including photographs, documents and other memorabilia. The Haines House is a two-story Queen Anne-style residence that was built for Eustis' first mayor, Stephen Haines. The house, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, contains period furnishings and photographs of Eustis' first citizens.
The Eustis Historical Museum also hosts a number of special events and educational programs throughout the year. These include lectures, walking tours, and other activities to help visitors learn more about the region's rich history. The museum also houses a research library and archives, which are open to the public.
