Boca Chita Lighthouse Boca Chita Lighthouse

Constructed in the 1930s by Air Conditioning magnate Mark C. Honeywell, Boca Chita Light was only switched on for a short time.  Honeywell, who built the lighthouse to aid navigation to his private island, had not consulted with officials, and had built the lighthouse on the wrong side of the island, creating a hazard for ships.

The Vizcayan Foundation is a historic estate and museum located in Miami, Florida. It was built in 1916 by industrialist James Deering as his winter home and was modeled after an Italian Renaissance villa. The estate features 34 rooms filled with art and antiquities, as well as ten acres of gardens and outdoor sculptures.

The Vizcayan Foundation was established in 1952 to preserve and maintain the estate as a cultural landmark. Today, it is open to the public for tours and events, and also serves as a venue for weddings and other special occasions.

In addition to the main house and gardens, the Vizcayan Foundation also includes a number of outbuildings and structures, including a boathouse, casino, and staff quarters. The estate is known for its stunning architecture and design, as well as its impressive collection of art and artifacts.
