The West Augustine Historical Community Development Corporation (WAHCDC) is a nonprofit organization located in St. Augustine, Florida. Founded in 2015, the organization is focused on the revitalization of the West Augustine neighborhood, a historically African American community located just west of downtown St. Augustine.
WAHCDC's mission is to improve the quality of life in West Augustine by preserving its history, creating economic opportunity, and strengthening the community. The organization is focused on revitalizing the neighborhood through housing initiatives, business development, and educational and recreational opportunities.
To accomplish its mission, WAHCDC has implemented a variety of programs and initiatives. These include the West Augustine Community Fund, which provides grants to local businesses, organizations, and individuals; the West Augustine Community Garden, which provides fresh produce to residents; and the West Augustine Historic Home Tour, a self-guided tour showcasing the history and culture of the neighborhood.
WAHCDC also partners with local organizations and businesses to provide employment and job training opportunities, health services, and youth programming. The organization hosts numerous events throughout the year, such as the West Augustine Art & Music Festival, to promote the community and the positive changes taking place in the neighborhood.
WAHCDC's mission is to ensure that West Augustine continues to be a vibrant and thriving community. Through their work, they are helping to preserve the history and culture of the neighborhood while creating a brighter future for those who call it home.
