The Delray Beach Historical Society Inc. (DBHS) is a non-profit organization founded in 1993 to preserve and promote the history of Delray Beach, Florida. The DBHS was established to research, document, collect, and disseminate information about the rich and diverse history of Delray Beach and its surrounding areas.

The DBHS is housed in the Delray Beach Historical Cottage, a building located in the heart of downtown Delray Beach that was constructed in 1902. The Cottage serves as the headquarters for the DBHS and is home to an extensive collection of historical artifacts, photographs, documents, and publications. The DBHS also offers educational programs, lectures, and exhibits to promote awareness and appreciation of the area’s history.

The DBHS operates the Delray Beach Historical Museum, which is located in the former Delray Beach High School, built in 1935. The museum features exhibits on the history of Delray Beach and its surrounding areas, including the history of the early pioneers, the African-American community, the railway, and the development of the area’s beaches and resorts. The museum also houses a research library and offers tours of the historic downtown district.

The DBHS works closely with local institutions, organizations, and individuals to promote the preservation and interpretation of Delray Beach’s history. The DBHS also works to further the appreciation of the area’s diverse culture through educational and promotional activities.
