The Everglades Society for Historical Preservation Inc. is a nonprofit organization located in Everglades City, Florida. The organization was founded in 1982 and is dedicated to the preservation and protection of the historic and cultural heritage of the Everglades and its surrounding areas. Their mission is to promote the understanding and appreciation of the history and culture of the Everglades by educating and involving the public in their efforts.

The Society is actively involved in preserving and protecting the Everglades National Park and its surrounding areas. They work to promote environmental awareness and education, and protect the resources and habitats of the area. They are also involved in many conservation projects and are dedicated to working with business, government and public organizations to preserve the area.

The Society offers a variety of educational programs, lectures and tours for the public and businesses. They also host events such as festivals, concerts and art shows that promote the preservation and protection of the Everglades.

Striped Mud Turtle A couple cool turtles I've seen semi-recently. The first is a tiny little Striped Mud Turtle I saw in Fakahatchee Strand. Look at that face. Second I believe is a pond slider. This oddly colored turtle was seen in the Dallas area when we were there for the eclipse.
Little Cottonmouth (1) Little Cottonmouth AKA Water Moccasin. On my visit to Fakahatchee Strand I caught 2-3 of these little guys hanging out in the road. They were pretty cooperative photo subjects.

Old Banded Water Snake (3) This Banded Water Snake was in pretty rough shape. He was laying just off the road and I parked very close and he didn't move. The eye appeared scabbed over (2nd shot). It was alive but didn't really acknowledge my presence. I've now been told this is Snake Fungal Disease. The 3rd shot shows where it was "hidden".

Island Glass Lizard (1) Island Glass Lizard - Fakahatchee Strand Yeah this is a legless lizard and not a snake. Main differences are lizards have ears and move more stiffly than snakes.
