The Weston Historical Society Inc. (WHS) is a non-profit organization based in the city of Weston, Florida. Founded in 2009, WHS aims to preserve and promote the history and culture of Weston, Florida and the surrounding Broward County area. WHS is dedicated to collecting, preserving, interpreting, and sharing the history of Weston and the surrounding area through educational programs, exhibits, and research.
WHS owns and operates the Weston Historical Museum, a 7,000-square-foot facility located in the center of Weston. The museum houses permanent and rotating exhibits that explore the history of Weston and the people who have called it home. The museum also offers educational classes and events, including lectures and workshops on a variety of topics related to the history of Weston.
In addition to the Weston Historical Museum, WHS also owns and operates the Indian Trace Nature Center, a nature preserve located in the city of Weston. The Nature Center features a variety of educational programs and activities designed to teach visitors about the environment and wildlife of the area. The Nature Center also hosts a variety of special events throughout the year, such as bird watching and nature walks.
The WHS is committed to promoting education and understanding about the history and culture of Weston, Florida, and the surrounding Broward County area. The Society also offers a variety of volunteer opportunities, including helping to preserve and maintain the museum and nature center.
