The Baranov Museum, located in Kodiak, Alaska, is one of the oldest and most significant museums in the state. Established in 1953, it is dedicated to preserving and interpreting the history and culture of Kodiak and its people. The museum is named after Alexander Baranov, the first governor of the Russian American Company, who founded the settlement at Kodiak in 1784.
The Baranov Museum is housed in two buildings on Mission Street. The main building is the old Church of the Holy Resurrection, which was built in 1808 and is the oldest standing structure in Alaska.
