OLD HAMILTON COUNTY JAIL

The Old Hamilton County Jail is a historic building located in Jasper, Florida. Built in 1893, it served as the county jail until 1974. The building was designed in the Romanesque Revival style and features a distinctive tower with a clock face. The walls of the jail are made of brick and the roof is made of metal.

The jail originally had 16 cells, each measuring 5 feet by 7 feet. The cells were arranged in two tiers around a central dayroom. The jail also had a sheriff's office, a living quarters for the sheriff and his family, and a room for female prisoners.

The Old Hamilton County Jail is now a museum and is open to the public. Visitors can see the original cells, the sheriff's office, and the living quarters. The museum also features exhibits on the history of the jail and the criminal justice system in Hamilton County.
