The Turquoise Mountain Foundation is an independent nonprofit organization located in Washington D.C., established in 2007 with the goal of helping to restore and revive traditional Afghan craftsmanship and empowering local communities. The organization works in countries including Afghanistan, Burma, and the Middle East, and is dedicated to preserving architectural heritage and traditional arts and crafts.

The organization has three core objectives: to help revive traditional Afghan craftsmanship, to create sustainable economic opportunities for Afghans, and to provide education and training. To this end, the organization has established numerous projects in Afghanistan such as the Turquoise Mountain Institute of Afghan Arts and Architecture, which provides vocational training in traditional crafts and architectural heritage. The organization also provides business incubation and development services to assist local artisans in developing and selling their products.

In addition to its projects in Afghanistan, the organization is also involved in a range of educational and cultural initiatives in other parts of the world. This includes the Turquoise Mountain Arts and Cultural Centre in London, which is dedicated to promoting traditional Afghan arts and crafts, and the Turquoise Mountain Foundation USA, which works to promote awareness of Afghanistan’s culture and heritage.

The Turquoise Mountain Foundation is committed to helping preserve Afghanistan’s cultural heritage and to creating economic opportunities for Afghans. The organization has been praised by many in the international community for its dedication to preserving traditional Afghan craftsmanship and providing training and education to local artisans.
