The US Federation of Friends of Museums (USFFM) is a national organization that advocates for the preservation and promotion of museum collections and programs in the United States. Founded in 1976, the USFFM is based in Washington, DC, and is a non-profit organization that works to promote the importance of museums and foster collaboration among Friends of Museums groups throughout the country.

The USFFM’s mission is to promote the development of strong Friends of Museums groups and networks that provide financial, advocacy, and volunteer support for museums and their programs. The USFFM works to strengthen existing Friends of Museums groups and provide support for new groups in the form of advice, resources, and training.

The USFFM also provides a platform for Friends of Museums groups to network and share information and best practices. The USFFM hosts a bi-annual conference, the National Conference of Friends of Museums, which brings together Friends of Museums groups from across the country to discuss ways to better support and advocate for museum collections and programs.

The USFFM also works to raise awareness of the importance of museums and provide resources and assistance to Friends of Museums groups. Through their website, the USFFM provides a variety of resources such as fact sheets, templates for fundraising and advocacy, and information on successful practices for Friends of Museums groups. The USFFM also provides grants and awards to Friends of Museums groups to support their work in museums.
