House of the Temple is a historic building located in Washington DC. It serves as the headquarters of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Southern Jurisdiction, U.S.A. The Temple was designed by John Russell Pope and is based on the Mausoleum of Mausolus at Halicarnassus. It was built in 1915 and is three stories tall. The exterior of the Temple is made of white Georgia marble and features a portico entryway with four Corinthian columns, a copper dome, and four sculpted female figures representing the cardinal virtues of Prudence, Fortitude, Justice, and Temperance.

The main hall of the Temple is called the House of the Temple, and it features a high ceiling and ornate decorations. The walls are covered with murals, and the floor is made of marble and inlaid with a mosaic.
