The Smithsonian Institution's National Zoological Park in Washington D.C. is one of the oldest zoos in the United States. Established in 1889, it has been providing educational and entertaining experiences to visitors for over a century. The park is home to more than 2,000 animals, representing more than 400 species. It is divided into three distinct areas: the International Center, the Bird House, and the Reptile Discovery Center.

The International Center is the largest and most popular area of the park. Here, visitors can explore more than 200 species of animals from around the world, including elephants, lions, gorillas, and more. The Bird House houses a wide variety of birds, including flamingos, macaws, and parrots. The Reptile Discovery Center showcases a variety of reptiles, such as lizards, snakes, and turtles.

The park also features a variety of educational and interactive exhibits. Visitors can learn about animal behavior, ecology, and conservation, or take part in a variety of interactive exhibits, such as the "Let's Talk Science" program or the "Dino Dig." In addition, the park also offers a variety of special events, such as animal shows, lectures, and craft workshops.

The park is open year-round, and admission is free. Visitors can explore the park on foot or take a guided tour. The park is also accessible by Metrobus and Metrorail, as well as by car. Visitors can also take advantage of the park's many dining options, including cafes, snack bars, and food trucks.
