Friends of Auburn Heights Preserve (FAHP) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation, protection, and interpretation of the Auburn Valley Railroad and the Marshall Estates in Yorklyn, Delaware. The FAHP was created in 1998 and works with the Marshall Steam Museum to preserve the history of steam power and the Marshall family.
The Auburn Valley Railroad, which was built in the late 1800s, is the only operating steam railroad in the state of Delaware. The railroad is home to a variety of locomotives, trolleys, and other equipment, all of which are maintained by the FAHP. Visitors to the railroad can enjoy rides on the trains, as well as explore the grounds of the Marshall Estate.
The Marshall Estate includes a 19th century historic mansion, a variety of outbuildings, and a collection of vintage automobiles. FAHP is dedicated to ensuring that the Marshall family heritage is preserved and that the estate remains open to the public. The FAHP also offers educational programs, special events, and other activities to help visitors learn more about the history and culture of the region.
The FAHP is committed to protecting and preserving the unique cultural and environmental resources of the Auburn Valley. The organization works in partnership with the Marshall Steam Museum and other local organizations to ensure that the Auburn Valley remains a vibrant and vibrant part of Delaware's history and culture.
