Lisbon Historical Society Inc. is a non-profit organization located in Lisbon, Connecticut. Founded in 2002, the Society is dedicated to preserving and promoting the history of the community and its people. The Society’s mission is to “promote the appreciation of the past and to preserve, protect and promote the history of the Town of Lisbon, Connecticut.”

The Society owns and operates two historic buildings, the Old Town Hall and The Lisbon Historical Museum. The Old Town Hall is a Greek Revival style building dating from 1855. It was the home of the town government until 1971 and is now used for Society meetings, programs and events. The Lisbon Historical Museum, located in the former Lisbon Congregational Church, is a small museum that houses a variety of artifacts and documents related to the history of Lisbon and its residents.

The Society holds a variety of programs throughout the year, including lectures, workshops and classes. They also host a number of special events, such as the annual Old Home Day, which features music, food, and a variety of activities and demonstrations. The Society also publishes a newsletter and is actively involved in the preservation and promotion of local history through research and writing.

The Lisbon Historical Society is open to the public, and membership is open to anyone interested in preserving and promoting the history of Lisbon. Membership benefits include discounts on Society events and access to the Society’s archives and library. The Society also welcomes volunteers and donations.
