The McKinley Historical Society & Museum Inc. in Anchorage, Alaska is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the history of the Anchorage area and its people. The Museum was founded in 1972 by a group of local citizens who wanted to share the unique heritage of the region with the world. The Museum offers a variety of exhibits, programs, and activities in order to educate and engage visitors in the history of Anchorage and the surrounding region.

The Museum has a wide range of permanent and temporary collections on display that focus on the history of Anchorage and its surrounding areas. Exhibits include artifacts from native Alaskan cultures, early settlers, the Alaska Railroad, the Alaska Lumber Industry, and the Alaskan Fur Trade. The Museum also features a variety of educational programs and activities that promote the exploration of Alaska’s history and culture.

The Museum is open to visitors year-round and offers a variety of special events and activities throughout the year. These include lectures, workshops, and special exhibits. The Museum also houses a research library, which is available to the public for research purposes.

The Museum is committed to preserving the Anchorage area’s unique history and culture, and it works to provide educational and cultural experiences for visitors of all ages. The Museum’s mission is to collect, preserve, and interpret the artifacts and stories of the Anchorage region’s history. By doing this, the Museum strives to create a sense of pride and connection among all who visit.
