The Torrington Area Model Railroaders (TAMR) is an organization based in Burlington, Connecticut that was founded in 1976. The club is dedicated to the preservation and promotion of model railroading in the Torrington area. TAMR is an organization of model railroaders of all ages and experience levels, from beginners to experienced hobbyists.
TAMR has a long history of model railroad shows in the Torrington area. They have been hosting their annual show since 1979 and it is one of the oldest continuous model railroad shows in the United States. The shows feature model railroaders from all over the northeast, along with special guest appearances.
TAMR also hosts monthly meetings, in which members discuss upcoming events and exchange ideas. The club has a library of books and videos available to members, and offers classes and workshops on a variety of topics related to model railroading.
In addition to their annual show, TAMR hosts a variety of other events throughout the year, such as open houses, railfan trips, and tours of historic railroads. The club also participates in public service events, such as providing displays for local libraries and schools.
TAMR is a nonprofit organization that is committed to the preservation and promotion of model railroading in the Torrington area.
