The Alaska Mining Hall-Fame Foundation in Fairbanks AK is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the history and heritage of Alaska’s mining industry. The Foundation was established in 1989 in order to honor the achievements of miners throughout the state’s history and recognize their important contributions to the local economy and culture.

The Foundation preserves and displays artifacts from the mining industry, including artifacts from each of the major mining eras in Alaska’s history. It also strives to educate the public about the importance of mining and the impact it has had on Alaska’s economy. The Foundation's permanent display, The Story of Mining in Alaska, covers the history of mining in the state and is located in the lobby of the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

The Foundation also hosts a variety of events and programs throughout the year, including an annual Mining Reunion, which brings together miners and their families to reminisce and share stories. The Foundation also offers guided tours of the mining districts of Alaska, as well as educational programs, lectures, and seminars on mining history.

The Foundation works to ensure that the legacy of Alaska’s mining industry is preserved and celebrated. It is committed to developing an understanding and appreciation of the mining industry’s contributions to Alaska’s history, culture, and economy.

I'm not the Pig! The photographer modeling pipeline "pigs". Pigs each are passed through the pipeline periodically to scrape and clean the inside of the pipe -- especially when the fluid being tramsported is waxy. The pig behind me is displayed inside of a sampel section of pipeline. The Trans-Alaska Pipeline winds its way from Prudhoe Bay on the Arctic Ocean at the far north of Alaska south to Valdez, on the shores of Prince William Sound in southcentral Alaska. This is a "vista point" on the Dalton Highway north of Fairbanks. The pipeline is heated and insulated to keep the waxy North Slope crude from solidifying and plugging it. It is elevated at this point to keep the heated pipeline from melting the permafrost soil.
Midnite Sun Festival Held every year around the summer solstice in Fairbanks, Alaska. The street fair runs from noon to midnight. On this day, in Fairbanks the sun rose at 3:39 am and set at 1:47 am. There was no darkness, only a couple of hours of bright dusk.
