THE BETHEL HISTORICAL SOCIETY

The Bethel Historical Society is a non-profit organization based in Bethel, CT. Founded in 1935, the Society's mission is to preserve and promote the history of Bethel, Connecticut and its neighboring towns. It is located in the historic General David M. Bissell House, which was built in 1820 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The organization houses and displays a collection of artifacts, documents, photographs, and other items that tell the story of Bethel and its surrounding area. This includes items related to local industry such as the Union Carbide plant and the Seymour Hat Factory, as well as items about the town's famous people and places. The Society also sponsors educational programs, lectures, and other events throughout the year.

The Bethel Historical Society is supported by members and volunteers who donate their time and resources to preserve the town's rich history and culture. The Society is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10am to 3pm, and admission is free for members and a small fee for non-members.
